PPHE Hotel Group has been granted planning permission for a mixed-use hotel-led development in London's South Bank area. The approved plans include a 15-storey design-led mid-scale concept with up to 186 rooms, two floors of office and light industrial space, and a ground floor public space featuring an all-day dining bar and cafe. The development will focus heavily on sustainability and target a BREEAM Excellent environmental accreditation. The site is strategically located on Westminster Bridge Road, offering easy access to iconic landmarks, cultural spots, and transport links.
The project, which will be PPHE's fifth hotel in the Waterloo area, was acquired for £12 million in 2019. The company is currently working on detailed designs for the development, with further updates on the planned investment and timings to be provided in due course. This initiative reflects PPHE's commitment to expanding its presence in London and its track record of creating stakeholder value through its buy, build, operate business model.
Boris Ivesha, President and Chief Executive Officer of PPHE Hotel Group, expressed delight at the approval, emphasizing the project's potential to combine lifestyle hotel rooms with office, leisure, and creative spaces for the community's benefit. He highlighted the development's significance in enhancing the Group's presence on London's South Bank and expanding its high-quality, well-located London portfolio to 3,900 rooms.
The company looks forward to commencing work on the project and providing updates to stakeholders in the future. For more information, the full announcement can be accessed on the PPHE Hotel Group website.
