Neometals Ltd has announced positive results from an independent Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) conducted by its joint venture Primobius GmbH. The LCA focused on Primobius' production of key battery materials, including lithium fluoride, nickel sulphate hexahydrate, and cobalt sulphate heptahydrate. The assessment confirmed that Primobius' integrated hydrometallurgical refining process has a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to incumbent production pathways in terms of global warming potential. The LCA showed that the Primobius recycling process achieved an approximately 85% reduction in carbon emissions compared to predominant electric vehicle supply chains that start with primary mined nickel, cobalt, and lithium sources.
