First Tin PLC has announced the advancement of the permitting process for its Taronga Tin Project in Australia. The company has lodged the Scoping Report with a request for Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) with the New South Wales Planning Secretary. This marks the formal commencement of the NSW permitting process for the project, leading to the public display of the report on the NSW Government's website.

The Scoping Report outlines key components of the Taronga project, including layout, infrastructure placement, personnel requirements, and proposed transport routes. It will be used by various NSW Government departments and regulatory agencies to specify the range of assessment requirements for inclusion in Taronga's Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The EIS is expected to be rapidly progressed once the SEARs are provided, with a target for lodgment by the end of calendar 2024.

First Tin CEO, Bill Scotting, expressed enthusiasm about the progress, stating, "The lodgement of the Scoping Report and request for SEARs is a key step in the permitting process for Taronga." He highlighted that permitting, alongside DFS (Definitive Feasibility Study) optimization work, has been the principal focus of the team in Australia. The company aims to soon lodge the EIS and apply for Development Approval.
