Costain Group PLC has been chosen by Wales & West Utilities (WWU) to spearhead a study investigating the integration of hydrogen refuelling stations into the UK's existing gas network. The research, funded by Ofgem, aims to explore the potential of utilizing the UK's natural gas network as hydrogen fuelling infrastructure in anticipation of the growing demand for zero emissions vehicles. The study will focus on infrastructure solutions that enhance the viability of hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs), offering a sustainable alternative to traditional petrol and diesel vehicles. This technology is particularly advantageous for heavy-duty vehicles with high daily mileage and limited refuelling windows.
