Cornish Metals Inc. has reported successful exploration drilling at the Wide Formation target within the South Crofty tin project in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The company's ongoing 9,000-meter Carn Brea drill program has confirmed the presence of wide formation mineralization over a 1.6km strike length. The drilling has also led to the discovery of a new Great Flat Lode Splay and multiple new mineralized structures between the Great Flat Lode and Wide Formation.
All six drill holes intersected the Wide Formation lode structure, confirming the exploration model for a parallel tin mineralized structure beneath the Great Flat Lode. The Wide Formation structure has been confirmed over a strike length of at least 1.6km, with notable tin intercepts including 1.21m grading 0.87% Sn and 1.90m grading 0.83% Sn. Additionally, a new mineralized structure, the Great Flat Lode Splay, was identified, with notable tin intercepts of 3.38m grading 1.01% Sn and 1.00m grading 1.56% Sn.
Richard Williams, CEO and Director of Cornish Metals, expressed confidence in the company's exploration model, stating that the Wide Formation represents a new, large-scale, tin-bearing exploration target. The ongoing drill program is designed to test the geometry and continuity of tin mineralization within the Wide Formation over a 2,500m strike length and 525m downdip to the southeast. The company plans to continue testing the Wide Formation along strike and improve on-target definition.
The drilling has also intersected multiple steeply dipping high-grade tin zones mainly located between the Great Flat Lode and the Wide Formation. Identifying areas where these structures intersect both the Great Flat Lode and the Wide Formation is of particular interest as these intersection points represent areas of greater fracturing and potential for high-grade tin mineralization.
Overall, the successful exploration drilling has confirmed the presence of wide formation mineralization over a significant strike length, and the discovery of additional mineralized structures and high-grade tin zones demonstrates the exploration upside of the area. Cornish Metals views this as having tremendous potential to add to their current Mineral Resource base at South Crofty.
