CORDIANT DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE LIMITED
České Radiokomunikace signs contracts for three new TV broadcast channels
Cordiant Digital Infrastructure Limited (CORD), an operationally focused investor in the core digital infrastructure that enables modern communications and the internet, announces that portfolio company, České Radiokomunikace ("CRA") has signed customer agreements to broadcast three new channels.
The team at Cordiant Capital Inc, CORD's investment manager, supported CRA in the signing of these exciting new revenue-generating agreements. They were made possible by CRA's investment over the past few years in the latest generation of broadcast technology, DVB-T2, which has created more capacity to be sold for new channels in CRA's broadcast infrastructure.
The first channel, launched early in Q2 2023, is A11 TV from the A11 media group. This digital terrestrial channel signed a three-year contract. A11 offers domestic and international programming, and is the first channel in the country to make use of Artificial Intelligence ("AI") in the creation of content and operations.
The A11 media group has also signed a minimum three-year contract for a second channel, A11 Sport. This channel is a joint-venture with the Perinvest Group. It will offer a variety of sports programming in addition to health and fitness content. A11 Sports is expected to commence transmissions before the end of the second quarter.
Finally, CRA has signed a minimum three-year contract with Swedish-based Topmerch Group for a teleshopping channel. Topmerch expect to commence broadcasts by the end of the third quarter of 2023.
These new contracts follow the previously-announced five-year agreement between CRA and the US blue chip pay TV broadcaster AMC Networks International (AMC), a global provider of well-known content such as AMC, Film+ and Sport1. This channel is the free-to-view, advertiser-supported version of content previously only available on an over-the-top subscription basis.
These contracts demonstrate the appeal of the digital terrestrial broadcast platform to regional and international broadcasters as the most sustainable and efficient way to transmit content to viewers. Terrestrial television broadcasting is the most widely used method of television distribution in the Czech Republic covering 99% of population and used by nearly 60% of households. Digital terrestrial broadcasting brings households a wide range of the most watched TV channels in the Czech Republic.
