Compass Group PLC has announced the purchase of 2,000 of its ordinary shares on 3 April 2024. These shares, bought through the Company's broker, BNP Paribas Financial Markets, will be held in treasury and are expected to be used to meet obligations arising from employee share schemes or other allocations of Ordinary Shares to employees or directors. The purchases were made at various venues, with the highest price paid per Ordinary Share at £22.5200 on the London Stock Exchange and the lowest at £22.3700. The purchases are part of the Company's market equivalent of $250 million share buyback announced on 4 December 2023, which is the initial stage of the Company's $500 million share buyback announced on 20 November 2023 to be completed in 2024, subject to M&A activity.
Following these purchases, the Company now holds 80,916,600 Ordinary Shares in treasury and has 1,704,487,377 Ordinary Shares in issue. This figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the Financial Conduct Authority's Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules.
