Reimagining energy

Reimagining energy

When it comes to energy, where you live makes all the difference to how its used.

In Europe, for example, more than half of all energy goes into heating homes and buildings, while in Saudi Arabia, nearly two-thirds of energy is used for cooling, according to the latest chapter of the bp Energy Outlook. Wherever you live, one thing is clearer than ever the world needs a better energy system. One that is more secure, more affordable, and lower carbon.

At bp, were transforming to play our part investing in our transition and the energy transition and, not or investing in todays energy system, which is mainly oil and gas, so we can help keep energy flowing where its needed as the world transitions.

In our regular newsletter, weve got highlights of where were doing both.

This issue, find out how were:

  • Installing high-speed EV charging.

  • And providing vital energy supplies via our Argos platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

And to find out more about how were putting transformation plans into action, visit our newly launched Transformation Hub.

EV charging

Charging ahead

Our largest and most powerful UK EV charging hub is now in operation. Drivers in the Kettering area can add up to 100 miles in around 15 minutes* Watch this film for more.

Its one of the ways were prioritizing rapid charging as we invest 1 billion in the UKs EV charging infrastructure by 2030.

The big picture: EV charging is one of bps five transition growth engines, along with bioenergy, convenience, hydrogen, and renewables & power. Together, they are core to our journey to becoming an integrated energy company.

Go deeper: Customers want and need fast charging. Read our interview with the head of bp pulse, Richard Bartlett.

Oil & gas

Energy for today

Were boosting oil supplies from the Gulf of Mexico with our newest platform, Argos, which could ultimately increase our production capacity in the Gulf by 20%.

Why it matters: Argos is helping to deliver the energy the world needs right now and enabling us to invest in energy for tomorrow.

The platform features bps digital twin software, which allows operators to make decisions remotely and in real time. That helps to keep our people safe and the platform running more efficiently.

Why it matters

How do we provide the world with secure energy, affordable energy and cleaner energy? We do that by investing in todays energy system, which is predominantly an oil and gas system AND, not OR investing to accelerate the energy transition.
