BP PLC has achieved a significant milestone with the arrival of the floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessel, Gimi, at the Mauritania and Senegal maritime border. The vessel is a crucial element of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) LNG project, which is operated by BP in collaboration with partners Kosmos Energy, PETROSEN, and SMH. The GTA Phase 1 development, set to produce approximately 2.3 million tonnes of LNG annually, is expected to play a pivotal role in transforming Mauritania and Senegal into a global LNG hub. This innovative project is anticipated to sustain LNG production for over 20 years, signifying a significant long-term impact on the region's energy landscape.
