BP PLC has announced a $100 million deal with Tesla to purchase ultra-fast charging hardware units for its EV charging business, bp pulse. This marks the first time that Tesla chargers will be deployed on an independent EV charging network. The investment is part of BP's plans to invest up to $1 billion in EV charging across the US by 2030. BP pulse has already installed over 27,000 charge points and aims to roll out more than 100,000 globally by 2030. The Tesla chargers will be installed across the bp pulse network, including at key bp, Amoco, ampm, and Thorntons-branded sites, TravelCenters of America locations, and bp pulse's large-scale Gigahub charging sites near airports and major metropolitan areas in the US. The roll-out is planned to begin in 2024, with the first installation sites identified in Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington D.C.
