Hello from Reimagining energy

The amount of energy well charge into vehicles is expected to increase more than 100 times from 2021 to 2030. This is a big ambition.

This weekend will see some of the latest electric vehicles on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

How those cars get charged once theyre out on the road is where bp pulse comes in. Hear from the man responsible for the rollout around the world of thousands of EV chargers for his view on the need for speed when it comes to charging technology and whats slowing things down in this Reimagining Energy interview.

Getting chargers in the ground

Were building a network of high-speed chargers because we believe customers want and need fast charging as they make the switch to electric vehicles, the head of bp pulse, Richard Bartlett, says in the piece.

bp is focusing on rapid and ultra-fast charging, with 90% of the charge points installed today falling into those categories.

Thats the difference between adding hundreds of miles of range in minutes and having to leave your car overnight on a slow charger, he says.

Investing in the future and in today

EV charging is one of the ways that bp is investing in the energy system of the future and investing in todays energy, which is mainly oil and gas. bps five transition growth engines EV charging, bioenergy, convenience, hydrogen, and renewables & power are core to our journey to becoming an integrated energy company.

For our readers in the UK, why not come and visit us at The Goodwood Group Festival of Speed this weekend? bp pulse is there to talk all things EVs. Youll find us at Electric Avenue.
