Beacon Energy plc has released an operational update on the Schwarzbach 2(3.) sidetrack well ("SCHB-2 sidetrack") in the Erfelden field. The sidetrack, which extended for an additional 85 meters in length from the original well bore at a depth of 2,145 meters, encountered challenges with the installation of an electrical submersible pump (ESP). The ESP has produced intermittently with frequent stalling, and a stabilized flow rate has not yet been established. The initial response from the reservoir appears to be poor, prompting the decision to temporarily shut-in the well to obtain pressure build-up data and demobilize the rig.

Stewart MacDonald, Incoming CEO of Beacon Energy, expressed disappointment at the lack of a sustained flow rate but remains optimistic about the potential of the Erfelden field. The company plans to undertake remedial actions on the ESP and reconnect the well to the production facility to establish a long-term stabilized flow rate. Beacon Energy will provide further updates once a stabilized flow rate has been achieved.

The company's CEO emphasized their commitment to maximizing the value of the discovered resource, which is believed to have Best Estimated recoverable reserves of 7.2mmbbl.
