Balfour Beatty Communities, a national residential real estate investment and management company, has broken ground on a new housing project at Fort Hamilton in New York. The project involves the demolition of outdated housing and the construction of new homes for service members and their families stationed at Fort Hamilton. The development includes the construction of three new homes for senior leaders at the base, replacing older units that were over 50 years old. The new homes will feature modern amenities such as fiber cement siding, architectural shingles, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. A new community playground is also planned. The project is part of Balfour Beatty Communities' mission to deliver quality communities for service members and their families.

Sean Kent, Senior Vice President of Renovation and Construction for Balfour Beatty Communities, stated, "At Balfour Beatty Communities, it's our mission to deliver quality communities that service members and their families are proud to call home." Col Brian Jacobs, US Army Garrison Fort Hamilton Commander, praised the partnership between the US Army and Balfour Beatty Communities, stating, "Working transparently and effectively together, this team continues to set new standards for quality housing, outstanding service, and overall care for the U.S. Army's most precious resource, its Soldiers, and their Families."

Construction of the three homes is set to begin later this month and is expected to be completed in 2024. The project also includes exterior renovations of ten apartment buildings in Doubleday Village at Fort Hamilton Family Homes, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Balfour Beatty Communities has been working with the Department of Defense as part of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI) to deliver new homes and renovate existing housing units. The company has delivered over 14,000 new homes and renovated an additional 15,000 units through the MHPI. Balfour Beatty Communities will finance, develop, build, renovate, and operate these projects for at least 50 years.
