Balfour Beatty, an international infrastructure group, has named Tony Wilson as the Managing Director of its UK Power Transmission and Distribution (Power T&D) business. With over 40 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry, Tony will be responsible for driving the business's growth plans, particularly in response to the UK Government's focus on clean and domestically generated energy. His role will involve establishing the company as a key partner to valued customers, including Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks and National Grid.

As an Electrical Engineer, Tony has a wealth of experience in the utilities, transport, infrastructure, and power markets. He previously held the position of Managing Director of Utilities at J. Murphy & Sons and has been with Balfour Beatty since 2021, initially as Utilities Director for Balfour Beatty VINCI's HS2 Area North Project. Last year, he transitioned to Balfour Beatty's Power T&D business as Chief Operations Director.

Balfour Beatty's Power T&D business is known for developing ambitious power transmission and distribution projects in the UK. The company collaborates with electricity network owners and operators to provide technical engineering solutions across the electricity grid, from scoping and feasibility to design, construction, and ongoing maintenance. Notably, Balfour Beatty was appointed as one of ten delivery partners to SSEN Transmission's c. £10 billion Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) framework, responsible for delivering onshore transmission infrastructure within SSEN's 'Pathway to 2030' network redevelopment program across the North of Scotland.

This appointment reflects Balfour Beatty's commitment to driving forward its Power T&D business and contributing to the UK's energy infrastructure.
