Balfour Beatty has appointed Steve O'Sullivan as the Project Director for the HS2 Old Oak Common station project. With over 40 years of experience in the industry, Steve has been involved in delivering major infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas. He joined Balfour Beatty as an Electrical Engineering apprentice in 1980 and has since played key roles in various high-profile projects. Steve's appointment reflects the company's commitment to nurturing and retaining talent.

Nigel Russell, CEO of Balfour Beatty's HS2 Major Projects business, expressed confidence in Steve's ability to lead the delivery of the UK's largest new railway station. Steve O'Sullivan expressed his honor in leading the 2,000 employees working on the Old Oak Common project, emphasizing the critical importance of HS2 and its impact on communities in the UK.

The Balfour Beatty VINCI SYSTRA joint venture, awarded the HS2 construction management contract for the Old Oak Common station project in 2019, is responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station. Last year, the joint venture celebrated a significant milestone at Old Oak Common, with two years of permanent construction completed, including the installation of the 1.2-mile diaphragm wall for the underground box and the first base slab concrete pour in the western end of the station box.

This appointment and the progress at Old Oak Common underscore Balfour Beatty's continued involvement in delivering iconic infrastructure projects worldwide.
