Balfour Beatty has been chosen by Rolls-Royce as its construction partner for the expansion of its Raynesway site in Derby. The expansion is a result of the increased demand from the Royal Navy and the AUKUS announcement. Balfour Beatty will be responsible for building new manufacturing and office facilities, creating 1,170 skilled roles at Rolls-Royce. The company's Group Chief Executive, Leo Quinn, expressed delight in supporting the critical work, emphasizing their expertise in delivering large-scale complex projects within live, operational nuclear environments.

Rolls-Royce Submarines Infrastructure Director Terry Meighan highlighted the importance of a strong and reliable supply chain, citing Balfour Beatty's experience in delivering major infrastructure and complex projects in secure environments as crucial factors in their selection. This partnership follows the selection of WSP as the non-fissile design partner, and both Balfour Beatty and WSP will collaborate closely over the next decade to bring the expansion plans to life.

Rolls-Royce currently supports the existing Astute and Dreadnought boat build programs and provides frontline support across the world for reactor plant equipment. This partnership signifies an exciting milestone as Rolls-Royce grows its site and business to meet the enhanced demand for its expertise.
