Dr Alasdair MacDonald, Balfour Beatty Core Valley Lines Programme Director, has featured in Inside Track Magazine discussing how we're working collaboratively with our Craidd Alliance partners to create innovative solutions and transform rail travel in South Wales

In the article, Alasdair explains how Balfour Beatty has partnered with Transport for Wales, Siemens Mobility, Alun Griffiths and Amey Infrastructure, to successfully deliver the Core Valley Lines Transformation programme; improving, renewing and electrifying the existing rail assets across the South of Wales.

Comparing the complexities of the Core Valley Lines with Crossrail and HS2, Alasdair discusses how together, the multi-disciplinary project is embracing unique innovations such as the installation of discontinuous electrification, which allows for battery-equipped Stadler trains to be deployed on a rail network for the very first time on this scale.
