Anglo American plc has announced the value of rough diamond sales for De Beers' ninth sales cycle of 2023, amounting to $80 million. This is a decrease from the previous cycle, which had a sales value of $200 million. The sales figure for Cycle 9 represents the expected sales value for the period between October 4 and November 3 and is subject to adjustment based on final completed sales. The CEO of De Beers, Al Cook, mentioned that macro-economic challenges continue to affect the diamond sector, with slow retail recovery in China and extended Diwali holidays and factory closures in India, the world's largest diamond cutting center. De Beers has maintained reduced rough diamond availability in response to these conditions.
